Recent
Appointment
After becoming an Alpha Practitioner on the
Alpha USA Advisory Team in 2007, Peggy
Lively’s experience, passion and track record
of vibrant Alpha Courses has led to her
appointment as Area Director for the DFW
Advisory Team.
It is expected the Team's activities will include:
reporting on where and how the Holy Spirit is
working through Alpha; advising us of trends,
needs and best practices; providing feedback
on ideas for more and better Alpha Courses,
and being a communication link with other
Alpha practitioners and potential Alpha churches in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
and surrounding regions. Find more information
below under “Alpha DFW”.

Volunteers
and those who feel a passion for telling others about Jesus Christ are urged to
become involved in the ongoing Alpha Courses
and upcoming offerings. Many
gifts are needed other than leading a table or serving as a host. Hospitality
is a key
ingredient to helping others feel loved through preparing and serving
meals & greeting guests.
Singers & musicians are needed to help with
our Worship Team. Prayer warriors are needed to pray. Those with marketing
and advertising skills are needed to spread the word. Book lovers are needed
at the book table. And more
Please consider what you have
to offer. We
can tell others about Jesus through our act of service for others using our
unique gifts. Contact Peggy Lively : peggylively@alphausa.org.
to discuss how you can help. Alpha
DFW Alpha DFW is a group of “Alpha Churches”
in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and
surrounding areas that meet quarterly to share
ideas and support one another in the Alpha
Ministry in each of their respective churches.
It
is hoped that churches, particularly smaller churches, can combine resources
for training
and joint Alpha activities such as the Weekend
Away.
Trinity
and other Alpha churches in the area,
have served as mentors to churches wanting to offer Alpha. After attending the course at the mentoring church,
they feel better equipped
and coached to present the course at their own
church.
A
website has been developed to assist individuals in obtaining information
about
DFW area courses and training. Go to: www.alphadfw.org.

Childcare Volunteers
are needed to help with
children over 4th grade and younger.
Helpers
are required to have appropriate Safe Sanctuaries training. Contact

Alpha
Training
Experienced
and inexperienced course leaders and hosts must participate in Alpha training prior to "each course".
Lisa
McCulloch, our Alpha Trainer has
revised training to one Saturday prior to
the start of each season's course at Trinity.
Emphasis is on team building,
worship,
prayer, and spiritual goals of the whole
Alpha Team, not just
the leaders and
helpers. Other churches from Terrell,
Fort Worth, Dallas, Temple, and even from Oklahoma, have joined our Trinity Alpha Team training.

Personal
Stories from Seekers What
easier way to "tell others" about Jesus Christ than to tell our
personal stories? If
you have a testimony you would like included in the Newsletter, forward it to
peggylively@alphausa.org
Click
the "Testimonies" on the main Alpha page to read more.
Alpha
Donations Consider
supporting the Alpha Ministry by donating a charitable gift in memory or in honor
of loved one. What
greater gift can you bring than to tell others about Jesus? Knowing Him and having
a personal relationship with Him is the purpose of the Alpha Course. Checks can
be made payable to Trinity United Methodist Church with notation for the Alpha
Ministry.
The
Alpha Ministry at Trinity would like
to acknowledge and give thanks to our
anonymous
donors who have fueled the
fire of God's love and glorified Him through
their financial gifts.
In
Memoriam The
Trinity UMC church family, Alpha Team and guests grieve the recent death
of
Sammie Thompson.
Sammy became involved in the Alpha
ministry in September of 2000. As Sam
grew spiritually, he answered Christ’s call
to evangelism, telling others about Jesus.
He, like many of us, questioned his
capabilities to get the job done, but stepped
out in faith trusting that the Lord would
equip him. He utilized his gifts of
administration, teaching and encouraging
faithfulness and humor, progressing from
being a guest at an Alpha course to being
a course Administrator. He found, in Alpha,
an easy, non-threatening vehicle to
answering his personal life questions,
discovering the joy of listening to others
seeking answers, and discovering the
amazing agape love of God through those
at his table. He experienced the privilege
of sharing in moments of revelation and
truth discovered throughout the course
as guests were filled with the Holy Spirit.
Sam wanted to give away the love that he
had experienced in the Trinity Alpha course
by helping New Victorious Baptist Church
start the course. Under the direction of
Worth Jackson and the assistance of New
Generation’s leadership, Sam volunteered
for the course. He again stepped out in
faith, beyond his comfort zone, and was
blessed by the love he gave and received
there.
Sammy’s momentary troubles achieved for
him an eternal glory that outweighed them
all. He fixed his eyes not on what we can
see, but on what is unseen. What we see is temporary but what Sam sees now is eternal.
Sam was much loved and will be dearly
missed…until we meet again!
