A reporter called me yesterday. She wanted to know if the current economy was hurting our church. "With gas
prices as high as they are, wouldn't it be logical for people to cut back their giving to their church? Do people give
less to their church during the summer? I know your church is planning a major relocation, is the economy hurting you?"

I told her, "I have never experienced people reducing their giving to the church based on the economy." Yes, when
people lose their job, some are unable to continue to support their church at the same level. We understand. In fact,
I told her that our pledge cards often tell people that if their situation changes, we expect them to let the church know
that they will be unable to continue to support the church at the same level.

Incredibly, when the economy slumps, Christians often give more to the church. They give more money, they give
more time, they give more prayers and when the economy is really bad, people fill their churches. Why is it that adversity
often reminds us how much we need God?

If your situation has changed, we understand - just let us know. If your situation is better than it was when you signed
a pledge card, you are certainly free to be even more generous.

If you're traveling this summer - wonderful! I think it's wonderful that so many members' financial situation is such that
they can travel. Please remember your church when you're out of town.

If you keep track of our weekly giving, you know that the giving to our operating budget has remained flat this year.
Church giving experts tell us that this is what we should expect the year after a very exceptional Capital Fund Campaign.
Your support of the "Promised Land" Campaign is outstanding. However, our weekly operating expenses continue.
Please be as generous as possible.

Get away this summer if you can, the Youngbloods are staying close to home this summer so Kathey can fully recover
from her knee replacement surgery. Worship with us when you are in town and when you are on vacation, worship where
you are. Some of our favorite worship experiences were on vacations.

In Christ,
Dr. Scott

Have You Filled Out Your Survey?
WE WANT YOUR OPINIONS!!! Although we have collected around 500 surveys on
Trinity on the Promised Land, we don't want to miss anyone. For the next 2 weeks, we
are going to still collect surveys. The survey forms will be available on the Trinity website
and in the Church Office. If you don't have the means to print one out or pick one up,
please call the church and we'll mail you one. Besides answers to the questions on the
survey, we are getting some terrific ideas from the congregation. We will be publishing
the results as soon as we feel we have all the surveys. Sunday School Leaders and other
Church Leaders, please check with your groups and make sure everyone has filled out the
survey. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions. It's exciting times
here at Trinity!

Christian Believer Series
Led by Rev. Albertson & Dr. Robertson

Beginning in September, Rev. Albertson and Dr. Robertson will offer a 30-week
(not 32 as previously stated), course entitled: Christian Believer.

Christian Believer assumes that most people - though faithful followers of Jesus Christ
they intend to be --- know little of the content of the central teachings of the Christian
faith and its ties to scripture. But they want to know. They want to know what is at stake
in what the church teaches and how it makes a difference in their own lives, what it
means to be Christian, and where we as Christians stand. Christian Believer aims at
addressing the uncertainty about the substance of the Christian faith and the connection
between believing and living.

The class will be limited to no more than 16 participants and will offer the opportunity for
discussion and fellowship. If you have an interest, please contact Rev. Albertson or Dr.
Robertson at the church: 817.274.1345. Our deadline is Sunday, August 10.

At the present moment, we plan to offer the class on Sunday. There will be a informal
meeting on Sunday, August 17, to answer questions and distribute study material. If you
| have an interest, contact Rev. Albertson or Dr. Robertson at the church: 817.274.1345,
or you may contact Dr. Robertson at 817.507.5660.

At our next meeting, we'll discuss Evensong by Gail Godwin, a moving novel set
during Advent 1999, in the fictional Appalachian hamlet of High Balsam in the

stay grounded amidst some strange goings-on in her conservative resort town.
These include a woman on a crusade to organize a "Millennium Birthday March
for Jesus" and an elderly, homeless man who has taken up the life of a Benedictine
monk. Our group will explore issues of faith, compassion, and loyalty as we discuss
this National Book Award nominee.
